Jean-Jacques Marx (born May 23, 1957 in Fegersheim , Département Bas-Rhin ) is a former French football player and current coach . Since summer 2017 he has been under contract with SV Nesselried in the southern Baden district league B.
He started playing soccer at a club in his Alsatian hometown of Fegersheim. He began his professional career in 1975 with the then first division team Racing Strasbourg , the club from the Alsatian capital Strasbourg . With this club he celebrated his greatest career success by winning the French championship in 1979 . He contributed six hits in 29 missions to this success. He also made five appearances in the UEFA Cup in the same season . Marx and his club were eliminated in this competition only in the quarter-finals against the then German Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg . In the season after the championship, the club took part in the European Cup for the first time . Right at the first time, Marx made it to the quarter-finals with Racing. Here the club drew the short straw against the Dutch top club Ajax Amsterdam . After a 0-0 draw at home in Stade de la Meinau , the club lost 4-0 away in Amsterdam. Marx, who had played three times in the competition up to the quarter-finals, was only used in the second leg. In 1982, after seven years in Strasbourg, Marx moved to league rivals FC Toulouse , where he made 153 appearances in five years. In 1987 he moved to the then second division club FC Lorient , where he played 32 games. After only one season he moved back to Strasbourg, but not to racing, but to the lower class ASPV Strasbourg . There he ended his career in 1995.
After his career he was among other things coach at the lower-class German clubs TuS Durbach and SG Weier / Bühl . After SV Nesselried was relegated from the district league A to the district league B, in June 2017 he signed Jean-Jacques Marx as a new coach.
