Daniel Mowry
Daniel Mowry Jr. (born August 27, 1729 in Smithfield , Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations , † July 6, 1806 there ) was an American politician . Between 1780 and 1782 he was a delegate for Rhode Island in the Continental Congress .
Career
Daniel Mowry received only a limited education and then worked as a barrel maker. From 1760 he was also active in the public service. Between 1760 and 1780 he was employed by the town of Smithfield as a town clerk . From 1766 to 1776 he sat in the colonial House of Representatives of Rhode Island. He was then an appellate judge in his homeland between 1776 and 1781. His best-known political office was that of delegate to the conitental congress. There he represented the interests of the state of Rhode Island between 1780 and 1782. In 1782 he rejected re-election to this body. Instead, he worked in agriculture until his death. Daniel Mowry died on July 6, 1806 in his hometown of Smithfield.
