Cadwalader Morris

Cadwalader Morris (born February 19, 1741 in Philadelphia , Province of Pennsylvania , †  January 25, 1795 ibid) was an American politician . In 1783 and 1784 he was a delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress .

Career

Cadwalader Morris attended public schools in his home country. Then he worked in trade. He also managed his own property. At times he lived in the West Indies . In the 1770s he joined the revolutionary movement and served in a unit from Philadelphia ( Philadelphia Troop of Light Horse ) during the Revolutionary War . In 1780 he helped found the Bank of Pennsylvania . For some time he then worked as an inspector for this bank. A year later he was also one of the founders of Bank of North America , where he then took a director's position.

After the war he ran an ironworks in Birdsborough for a short time . Then he returned to Philadelphia to work in commerce again. Politically, he only appeared as a representative of Pennsylvania at the Continental Congress. He held this position in 1783 and 1784. Cadwalader Morris died in Philadelphia on January 25, 1795.
