Daniel Schmidt ( Japanese シ ュ ミ ッ ト ・ ダ ニ エ ル , Schmidt Daniel ; born February 3, 1992 in Illinois ) is a Japanese football player .

Career

society

Schmidt played in his youth for the Chūō University . He started his career at Vegalta Sendai . In 2014 and 2015 he was loaned to Roasso Kumamoto . In 2016 he was loaned to Matsumoto Yamaga FC .

For the 2019/20 season, Schmidt moved to the Belgian first division VV St. Truiden . It was his first contract in Europe.

National team

On November 16, 2018, Schmidt made his debut for the Japanese national soccer team in a friendly against Venezuela . He was part of the squad at the 2019 Asian Cup , but was only actually in goal in the group game against Uzbekistan. Japan had already qualified for the round of 16 before this group game.
