Daniel Stefan (born May 6, 1990 in Deutschlandsberg ) is an Austrian ice hockey defender who has been playing for EHC Lustenau in the Alps Hockey League since the 2016/17 season .

Career

Stefan has played 16 times in the Austrian ice hockey league and 61 times in the Austrian U20 Bundesliga. With the VSV U20 team, he won the Austrian Youth Championship twice. In 2008 he took part in the U18 Junior World Championship with the Austrian national team. For the 2009/10 season, the defender moved within the EBEL to the EC Graz 99ers . Stefan played for the G99 with the farm team in the Slovenian Bundesliga (Slohokej) and in the Super Junior League, in which he appeared as the strongest defender on points. In the 2010/11 season Stefan was awarded by the VSV to ATSE Graz in the National League (second highest league in Austria).

In the 2012/13 season, the Zeller Eisbären secured the services of Stefan, with whom he reached the semi-finals at the end of his first season. In the 2013/14 season, Stefan also reached the semi-finals with EK Zell am See. The 23-year-old had to sit out the last 9 games with a metacarpal bone fracture. The 2013/14 season was a very successful season for Stefan with 7 goals and 16 assists and was one of the best Austrians in the league. In the 2014/15 season he increased his points count to 10 goals and 16 assists, making him one of the strongest defenders in the league again. In the 2015/16 season, EK Zell am See was eliminated in the quarter-finals, Daniel Stefan scored 4 goals and 12 assists, making him one of the special defenders in the INL with a point rate of over 50%.
