Daniel T. Brown

Daniel T. Brown (* 1945 in Knoxville , Tennessee ) is an American politician and city councilor of Knoxville. From January 11 to December 17, 2011, he was interim mayor of Knoxville.

Brown was born in Knoxville, graduated from Tennessee State University ( Bachelor of Science in history) and served in the Vietnam War . The now retired postal worker was elected to the city council to represent the Sixth District. He has been appointed interim successor to Bill Haslam , who has been Governor of Tennessee since January 2011 . Brown did not run for the mayoral election in the fall of 2011. He handed over his office to the election winner Madeline Rogero on December 17, but remained on the city council.

Daniel T. Brown was the first African American Mayor of Knoxville.
