Daniel Zamir

Daniel Zamir (born 1980 in Petach Tikwa ) is an Israeli jazz musician and saxophonist.

Life

Originally from a secular family in the Tel Aviv area , he devoted himself to studying the saxophone from the age of eleven and graduated from the Thelma Yellin Art High School as a teenager . He then moved to New York City in the United States , where he became interested in the musical traditions of Hasidism and the Caribbean . He completed his university studies at The New School in 2002 .

He then worked in New York City together with the composer John Zorn within his music label Tzadik , where he recorded a total of three music albums. From 2006 he performed more and more in Israel, where he recorded further albums and is still mainly active today, but continues to work on albums for the music label Tzadik.
