Daniela Brendel
Daniela Brendel (born September 29, 1973 in Berlin ) is a former German swimmer .
Daniela Brendel started for SC Berlin . In 1988 she was European Junior Champion in the 200-meter chest and second in the 100-meter chest. In 1990 she was the last GDR champion on both chest courses. At the German Championships in 1992 she won the title over 200 meters breast and finished second behind Jana Dörries over 100 meters breast . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Daniela Brendel competed in three disciplines. She took eighth place over 100 meters chest and tenth place over 200 meters chest. The 4 x 100 meter layer relay made up of Dagmar Hase , Daniela Brendel, Bettina Ustrowski and Simone Osygus qualified in the first run with the second-best time for the final. In the final, the German relay team with Dagmar Hase, Jana Dörries, Franziska van Almsick and Daniela Hunger crossed the finish line in second behind the US relay; Daniela Brendel, Bettina Ustrowski and Simone Osygus also received a silver medal for their efforts in the preliminary run. In 1993 Brendel took second place over 100 meters behind Sylvia Gerasch at the German Championships .
