Jana Dörries

Jana Dörries (born September 24, 1975 in Potsdam ) is a former German swimmer . In 1992 she won an Olympic silver medal in the individual individual relay.

Jana Dörries started for the OSC Potsdam . In 1990 she won the German championship over 100 meters and over 200 meters breaststroke. In 1990 she became Junior European Champion over 100 meters chest. At the swimming world championship in January 1991 in Perth , she finished second behind the Australian Linley Frame over 100 meters chest , over 200 meters she was third behind Jelena Wolkowa and Frame. The tier relay made up of Svenja Schlicht , Jana Dörries, Susanne Müller and Manuela Stellmach also won bronze.

In 1992 Dörries became German champion in the 100-meter breaststroke and third over 200 meters. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona Dörries reached fifth place over 100 meters chest. The German layer relay with Dagmar Hase , Jana Dörries, Franziska van Almsick and Daniela Hunger won silver behind the Americans.

For this she was awarded the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993.

In 1994 Dörries won again at the German championships on both breast courses. At the European Championships in Vienna in 1995 Dörries took fourth place over 100 meters chest; the German layer relay with Cathleen Rund , Jana Dörries, Julia Voitowitsch and Franziska van Almsick won the title ahead of the Hungarians. Dörries ended her career in 1997.
