Danielle Corbin

Danielle Corbin (born April 4, 1946 in Toulouse , † August 6, 2000 in Lille ) was a French linguist and romance scholar .

life and work

Danielle Corbin (née Glaiman) completed her habilitation at the University of Paris VIII with Jean-Claude Chevalier with the Thèse d'Etat Morphologie dérivationnelle et structuration du lexique (2 vols., Tübingen 1987, Lille 1991) and became professor of French linguistics at the University of Lille III . There she headed the research group SILEX from 1989 and was co-editor of the magazine Lexique . In 1997 she was appointed senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France for five years in recognition of her achievements.

Danielle Corbin had the ambition to write a generative grammar of the vocabulary and started from the assumption that the irregularities of the word formation are based on hidden deep-seated regularities that can be found. She planned an affix dictionary and a derivative dictionary of French.

Danielle Corbin was married to the linguist and dictionary researcher Pierre Corbin , with whom she wrote several publications together.
