The word comes from Old High German and means guardian of remembrance (Old High German: thank for thinking , thought ; wartori , here for guardian, guardian, nurse ).
The best-known bearer of the name is the figure of the Burgundian knight and brother of Hagen von Tronje in the Nibelungenlied . He led the 9,000 Burgundian miners to the castle of the Huns - King Etzel .
