Danmarks Socialdemokratiske Ungdom

Danmarks Socialdemokratiske Ungdom (DSU) , literally Social Democratic Youth of Denmark , is the youth organization of the Social Democratic Party of Denmark, Socialdemokraterne .

The organization has 2694 members (2011) under 31 years of age. There are around 60 local associations ("departments"). The departments are in turn divided into 10 areas and the area boundaries follow the Danish grand electoral districts for the election of the Folketing .

The DSU is a member of the Dansk Ungdoms Fællesråd DUF (literally: Joint Council of Danish Youth), the International Union of Socialist Youth Organizations IUSY. The DSU also works with the ECOSY , as do the Jusos .

The chair is Camilla Brejner Schwalbe from Copenhagen ( Amager department), who was elected chair at the 39th Congress in Horsens in May 2012. The general secretary is called Jakob K. Sørensen and comes from Holstebro in Central Jutland , but now lives in Copenhagen. He was also elected at the 39th Congress.

The deputy chairman is Alexander Grandt Petersen. Originally from Esbjerg in Sydjylland , he now also lives in Copenhagen and was also elected at the 2012 Congress.

The federal committee ( Forretningsudvalget , FU) has thirteen members who are elected at the congresses. The DSU also has a federal board ( Hovedbestyrelsen , HB), which consists of 42 members: 28 are elected in the areas and the thirteen members of the federal committee are also members of the federal board. The Social Democratic Party of Denmark has an observer in the federal executive board, as well as the social democratic student union "Free Forum" ( Frit Forum ).
