The singer Danny Boy's real name was Claude Piron and was born on January 25, 1936 in Saint-Pierre-de-Cormeilles , France . The four accompanying musicians "Les Pénitents" (in German: "The penitents") wore penitential robes with hooded faces. Claude Piron can be considered the first French rock 'n' roll singer. He started his career in 1956 shortly before Danyel Gérard . He recorded his first records under his real name until he took the stage name "Danny Boy" in 1960. His first successes were: "Un collier de tes bras", "Un coup au cœur" (1961) and "Twistez" (1962). The band's supporters particularly appreciated the clear timbre of Danny Boy's voice and the peppy, surf-inspired sound of the musicians.
