Daoed Joesoef

Daoed Joesoef (born August 8, 1926 in Medan , Sumatra Utara , † January 23, 2018 in Jakarta ) was an Indonesian politician who was Minister of Education and Culture between 1978 and 1983.

Life

Joesoef graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Indonesia , which he graduated in 1959. In 1967 he obtained a doctorate in international relations and international finance from the University of Paris . In 1971 he was one of the co-founders of the Center for Strategic and International Studies CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies) . In 1972 he obtained another doctorate in economics from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne .

On March 29, 1978 he succeeded Syarief Thayeb as Minister for Education and Culture (Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan) in the third cabinet of President Suharto and held this until March 19, 1983, after which Nugroho Notosusanto took his place. Most recently he was an advisor to the CSIS Foundation between 2005 and 2015.
