The helmet water flea ( Daphnia cucullata ) is a type of cancer from the genus Daphnia ( Daphnia ).
It becomes 1 to 2 millimeters long. The body is strongly compressed at the sides and very transparent. The head armor has a pointed tip that is pulled back. The head is helmet-shaped. There is no nauplius eye . The rostrum is rounded and short. The antennae of the first antennae are as long or longer than the tip of the rostrum.
Daphnia cucullata occurs in lakes, as a dwarf form also in ponds. The species is an open water inhabitant and an essential part of the animal plankton of large lakes.
