content

Max lives in the tranquil town of Palm Brinks and is a passionate inventor. The city itself is isolated from the outside world and the residents live peacefully. One day there is a circus in town and Max even gets a ticket for it. In the tent itself, he overhears a conversation between the circus director and the mayor of the city. This is brutally forced by the director of the circus and under threats to look for a red gemstone. Due to a mishap, Max draws attention to himself and the manager realizes that Max is wearing the exact stone around his neck that he is looking for so much. The stone, also called Atlamilia, is a gift from Max's father. Max flees and misappropriates his hammer, which he normally only uses for his passion, crafts, and hits the circus director's clown henchmen. He even sets a huge machine on Max to get to the Atlamilia, but thanks to the help of his buddy Donny Max escapes. He roams the sewers in search of the truth. The truth about his mother's whereabouts, about the fact that the mayor is sealing off the residents of Palm Brink and the truth about the red stone, his father's gift. Over time, Max learns from a time-traveling princess, Monica, that a villain named Griffon is changing the course of time and destroying the future known to her. He wants to destroy the entire planet and Max, as well as Monica, with their blue Atlamilia set out to avert the great disaster.

Game concept

Dark Chronicle offers a high level of long-term motivation, since in addition to the normal battles in the dungeons in the so-called Georama mode, cities can be built on the upper world in order to positively influence the future. This is made possible by doing small jobs for the residents of Palm Brink, who in turn will make themselves useful with their own skills. They are important for building cities and some are great for fighting or upgrading various items. In addition, Max can realize various inventions by being inspired by photographs he has made himself. Among other things, stronger weapons and new equipment can be created for the Ridepod .

With the weapons, it is possible to decide relatively independently in which direction to continue. The way a weapon is set up is never determined in advance. For example, Max can later hit the opponent with a hammer or with a key. The other characters can also be ranked differently. The Ridepod can drive through the area like a tank, fly over the ground like a helicopter or zoom through the plain like a motorcycle.

The Ridepod is a mech that Max can sit on during combat to defeat particularly large and difficult opponents. In return, Monica can transform into monsters in order to walk unrecognized through dangerous areas or to talk to the monsters.

Other diversions are the golf-like game of Spheda and fishing and breeding fish, with regular fishing competitions with useful prizes to be won.

You can get new costumes for the heroes from the mayor in exchange for medals. The medals are acquired through "fast monster clearing", "Spheda", "fish targets", or the completion of a level under certain circumstances. ("Defeat all monsters with Monica's sword" or "Without healing")
