The Darmstadt Colt 45 were a baseball club from Darmstadt in the 1960s.
Darmstadt Colt 45 was a division of the sports club Rot-Weiß Darmstadt and in 1965, alongside the baseball division of Bayern Munich , TB Germania Mannheim and VfR Mannheim, one of four teams in the Bundesliga baseball . The team showed unexpectedly strong performances in 1966 , but had to leave the championship win to the defending champion VfR Mannheim. The following two seasons, 1967 and 1968 , were more successful for the Colt 45 when they each secured the German championship title. In the ranks of the Darmstadters there were also players from the American occupation forces. Since the Bundesliga baseball stopped playing from 1971 to 1981, the club also had to end its activities after the 1970 season due to a lack of game opportunities . It was not until 1986 with the Darmstadt Rockets and 1992 with the Whippets that there were successors in Darmstadt.
