Darren Till
Daren Till (born December 24, 1992 in Liverpool ) is a British martial artist . He is currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is fifth in the official UFC middleweight rankings (as of July 14, 2020).
Life
Till was born in Liverpool, England. At the age of 12 he began to practice the martial art Muay Thai before he concentrated on mixed martial arts at 17 . In August 2012, Till became part of a brawl at a house party in which he was stabbed with two knife stabs. According to the company, this was a near-death experience, as the knife missed its main artery by only a few millimeters. His coach at the time advised him to travel to Brazil, where he was instructed in the martial art of Luta Livre under Marcelo Brigadiero.
Till supported politician Jair Bolsonaro in the Brazilian presidential election in 2018.
Career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship
Till made his UFC debut in March 2015 against the Brazilian Wendell de Oliveira Marques. He came into the fight with an undefeated MMA record of 12-0. The first round was mainly controlled by Marques, who managed to press Till against the cage and place some knee attacks. In the second round, however, Marques was brought down and Till ended the fight with an elbow knockout.
