Darryll Lewis (born December 16, 1968 in West Covina , California , USA ) is a retired American football player who played in the NFL between 1991 and 2000 .

After he was drafted in 1991 by the Houston Oilers in the 2nd round, he played for the Houston Oilers and the Tennessee Titans until 1998 before he went to the San Diego Chargers in 1999 for which he played until 2000.

Awards

In 1990 he was awarded the Jim Thorpe Award for Best Defensive Back in College Football.

Darryll Lewis was taken into custody by the police on November 7, 2005 because he drove under the influence of narcotics and engaged in a half-hour chase with the police.
