Das Damespiel was a monthly German sports magazine that was exclusively devoted to the game of checkers in all of its then known variants.

Foundation and content

The magazine had a very short history and appeared between December 1932 and March 1933 . The aim was to structure and organize the checkers , which was very popular in Germany at the time, but mostly only played in family circles, throughout the German Empire . It was also the association organ of the German Lady Association, which was founded almost at the same time.

The content was largely reprints and reviews of historical checkers games of the 19th century, but also current games. For example, in the March 1933 issue, a debriefing of the European championship game between Jack de Haas and Alfred Molimard .

Checkers problems from the area of ​​the endgame were also presented and the readers were able to send solutions to the editorial team.

The magazine was also the press organ of the Association of German Ladies' Association , which was also founded in 1932 and had its headquarters in Stettin .

The end of the magazine was caused in 1933 by the dissolution of the German Lady Association.
