The thing (songbook)
Das Ding (also dasDING ) is a multi-volume songbook series for guitar players by Andreas "Andy" "" Lutz and Bernhard Bitzel. The first volume was published as a spiral book in 2000.
The song books contain around 400 songs each from folk and hiking songs as well as from Schlager , pop , rock and hip hop . Only chords (so-called chordsheets ) are given for the songs . Notes of the vocal melody, measure and beat pattern are missing from the original three volumes. Knowing the songs is therefore assumed.
In 2001, the thing was placed fifth in the ZEIT bestseller list in the non-fiction category . The sequel Das Ding 2 followed in 2005, Das Ding 3 at the end of 2008 and Das Ding 4 in 2014 .
At the end of 2009 the first volume was published as a version with sheet music. In addition to the text with chords, this also contains the melody guidance with chords. In March 2011 the second volume with sheet music was published, as well as the third volume in March 2012. The thing with notes is also published as a spiral book, but in A4 format.
