The fairy tale of the man in the moon is a fairy tale . It is in Ludwig Bechstein's German book of fairy tales at position 32 (1845 No. 33).
content
God in human form admonishes a wooden bearer to honor Sunday. He fends off, Sunday or "lunar day" doesn't matter. Then God curses him to stand forever as a man in the moon.
origin
Bechstein notes "Oral". According to Hans-Jörg Uther, the source can not be determined, Rolf-Rüdiger Schneider's dissertation refers to Johann Peter Hebel's The Man in the Moon . It is apparently an explanation and warning of the origin of the moon face , similar to Grimm's The Moon or The Ear of Corn .
