The phantoms are gargoyles.

The main character of the radio play is 10-year-old Jannek. Jannek's parents died very early. Since then he has lived with his uncle Franusch in Cologne. Uncle Franusch is a very nice guy who sings for the stars every night. When Uncle Franusch dies, Jannek runs into the Cologne Cathedral because of a dream , where he meets two phantoms who are really gargoyles . They tell Jannek that with their help he can get into the realm of the dead and bring Uncle Franusch back to life. But Jannek has to lend them his shadow for three days. But that's a nasty trick. Fortunately, Jannek's only friend, Mirella, is looking for Jannek with the help of an old angel. If Mirella hadn't looked for Jannek, he would probably be lost. And finally, Jannek is even allowed to live with Mirella.
