The old mother

The old mother is the eighth of ten children's legends in the appendix to the children's and house tales by the Brothers Grimm (KHM 208; ATU 934C).

A lonely old woman accuses God because her sons and all friends are dead. She hears the bell and finds the church full of dead relatives, and her seat is also taken. An auntie shows her her sons, who, if they hadn't died young, would have come to the gallows and to the bike . She goes home, thanks God, and dies.
