Daschiin Bjambasüren

Daschiin Bjambasüren ( Mongolian Дашийн Бямбасүрэн ; * June 20, 1942 ) was the Prime Minister of Mongolia from September 11, 1990 to July 21, 1992.

Life

Bjambasüren was born in 1942 in Chentii-Aimag into a Buryat family. He is a professor of economics and headed the state administration academy before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

As a representative of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party , which was still ruling as a state party at the time , he negotiated with the participants in the hunger strike on Sukhbaatar Square in 1990. He was one of the compromising members who advocated the democratization of the Mongolian People's Republic .

After the fall of the Wall he was appointed the first prime minister of democratic Mongolia. A little later he made the Democrat Ganbold his deputy. During his tenure, all citizens of Mongolia were given "privatization vouchers" which could be used to purchase private property such as urban land or apartments.

After his reign he worked as the founder and chairman of the Democratic Rebirth party , which ran for the 1999 elections in the Democratic Power Coalition . In the same year he was awarded the "Peace Medal", together with Bat-Uul , Tsachiagiin Elbegdordsch , Punsalmaagiin Otschirbat and Sandschaasürengiin Dzorig . Bjambasüren is also President of the Mongolian Development Foundation and Society.
