Dassanowsky (also Dassanofsky, Dassanovsky) is the name of the fictional Austrian branch of the Prussian - Polish nobility family Taczanowski that the noble family of Jastrzębiec belongs. The Dassanowskyweg in Vienna - Donaustadt serves as recognition of some historical family members.

Name bearer

doubt

There is no noble family "Von Dassanowsky", which is why they are not listed in the "Adelslexikon", which appeared in the series "Genealogical Handbook of Adels (GHdA)" between 1972 and 2008 in Marburg. The "Austrian branch" of the Lords and Counts von Taczanowski was invented. Due to the "expansion of the primogeniture" mentioned in the article "Franz Dassanow (f) sky) no new noble family branch could emerge. It merely stated that the earl dignity bestowed on Alfons von Taczanowski could only be passed on to the earliest male descendants. Since the first Count Taczanowski had no offspring, there was only this one count.

The mention of the primogeniture in the "von Dassanowsky articles" is supposed to explain the alleged use of the "von" in the Dassanow (f) sky. In fact, according to the entries in the Vienna address books from 1859 to 1917, they did not have a "von" (see below) because they were not aristocratic and not a branch of the Taczanowski family.

Leopold Johann Dassanowsky and Christian Johann Nepomuk Dassanowsky are correctly mentioned in the above list without "from".

There are therefore considerable doubts about the form of the name and especially about the alleged nobility of the "Dassanowsky". In the Viennese address books of the years 1859-1892 a Franz Dassanofsky appears regularly, occasionally also written with "ff", but not with "w", and in no single case does the word "von" or the letter "v." Appear. before the name. Between 1893 and 1908, only the widow Magdalene (not Magdalena) appears in the address books.

Anna Dassanofsky appears in the Vienna address books from 1925 to 1942 (with "f").

The Dassanowsky family (actually: Dassanofsky) cannot be historically proven as a noble family.

Since "Elfi" and "Robert" (von) Dassanowsky apparently see themselves as descendants of Franz Dassanofsky, their title of nobility does not exist either. Whether they are related at all is questionable because of the different spelling of the names. In addition, the nobility in German Austria was abolished in 1919. If the Dassanow (f) sky family had been aristocratic, their members would no longer be allowed to use the nobility titles today.

Honors

In 1997 the Dassanowskyweg in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after the Dassanowsky family.
