Leopold Johannes Dassanowsky
Leopold Johannes Dassanowsky (born December 22, 1737 in Vienna ; † September 26, 1815 there ) was an Austrian court official. He came from the Viennese branch of the Polish noble family Taczanowski . His grandfather, Andrzej Taczanowski, was Sobieski 's knight commander in the relief of Vienna during the second Turkish siege in 1683.
Dassanowsky was optional Emperor Joseph II. Grantor and kk Hofpoststalldirektor (1786-1805). He initiated important improvements to the postal routes and extended them to the easternmost part of the empire - as far as Krakow . Two of his sons, the half-brothers Carl (actually Franz Carolus) and Christian Johann Nepomuk Dassanowsky , became royal court travel directors and Viennese Obersthof post office officials.
