Datex-J

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Datex-J was a special service of the Deutsche Bundespost for data transmission and was introduced in 1993 as a carrier service for video text (Btx) . The "J" stood for "everyone". About Datex-J mainly was online banking of Postbank operated.

There were still expansion plans for Datex-J in the mid-1990s . For example, each Datex-J participant should also receive their own email address. Despite the initially better market success compared to Btx (subscriber growth in the first year of introduction 46%) due to lower prices and a larger offer (in addition to Btx and Btx plus also internet access), these plans were not pursued any further and replaced in 1995 by the T-Online offer .

The technically analogue service in Austria was called Public Access Network ( PAN ) and was active from 1993 to 1995.
