Datong Basin

The Datong Basin ( Chinese  大同 盆地 , Pinyin Datong pendi ) is a basin in North Shanxi in the People's Republic of China at an altitude of about 1000 to 2200 m above sea level . It lies between the Inner and Outer Great Wall . It forms the western part of the Sanggan Basin ( 桑 干 盆地 , Sanggan pendi ) located in North Shanxi and Northwest Hebei . The basin is rich in ore and coal deposits .
