The permanent forest foundation in Pomerania was established on December 20, 2011 as the first German permanent forest foundation under civil law. It is non-profit and is based in Buddenhagen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Founder and Board of Trustees

The founder is the forester Eckhard Wenzlaff, who made both the property and the first forest areas from his woodpecker forest property available to the foundation. The founder is active as the forest spokesman for NABU at the federal level. He has taken over the chairmanship of the board of trustees himself. The foundation wants to promote and popularize the dissemination of the idea of permanent forests after almost 100 years of resistance in civil servant, public forestry and in forestry practice.

aims

According to the statutes, the most important goals of the foundation are:

  • the promotion of the permanent forest idea in the training of forest staff, forest owners and silvicultural practice
  • Measures of integrated forest nature protection , to maintain the water balance and its networking with forest management
