Dave Barnes (born June 20, 1978 in South Carolina ) is an American singer-songwriter.

Live and act

Dave Barnes grew up in Mississippi and performed as a musician while at Middle Tennessee State University . Among other things, he has a degree in Recording Industry Management.

He began his music career in Nashville, where he put together a backing band. In 2002 he released his first EP, followed by two albums every two years. In 2008 he switched to the Razor & Tie label , where his third album Me and You and the World was released. He made it into the US charts for the first time. The real breakthrough came in 2010 with the album What We Want, What We Get , which was particularly successful in the Christian Music Charts and reached number 3. With the song God Gave Me You he had his biggest hit from the album. Barnes' music tends towards blues rock with pop and country influences.
