Dave Lojek
Dave Lojek (born October 5, 1975 in East Berlin ) is a German filmmaker , festival organizer, film critic and author .
Life
Dave Lojek studied English / American studies and cultural studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He has also been writing and publishing poetry since 1995 and instructing young authors in writing workshops. After graduating, he devoted himself to film as a self-taught medium.
Since 2005 he has mainly been producing his own short films and documentaries under the Apeiron Films label . He directs and edits most of the films himself. His films and distributions have been shown at the International Short Film Festival Hamburg , the Dresden Film Festival and the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, as well as around 1518 other festivals, and have won over 207 awards. He is one of the most played directors in the world at film festivals.
Lojek organizes annual film workshops (so-called "KinoKabarets") as part of the non-commercial movement Kino in Berlin. Since 2012 Lojek has been the first chairman of the Video and Film Association Berlin / Brandenburg eV within the Federal Association of German Film Authors and coordinates other author film festivals in the capital. Lojek's independent film initiative KinoBerlino offers young filmmakers a forum for their works almost every month in Germany's oldest cinema, Moviemento .
