David Clinger 2007

David Clinger (born November 22, 1977 in Los Angeles ) is a former American road cyclist.

David Clinger began his career in 1997 with the US team Comptel Data System . The following year he switched to the Mercury Cycling Team . In his second season there, he won the overall ranking of the Tour de Toona and a stage in the Tour de Beauce . In 2000 Clinger moved to the French GS-I team Festina . In his first year there he won a stage at the Vuelta a Galega and in 2001 he won the Spanish one-day race Prueba Villafranca de Ordizia . He then moved to US Postal Service , where he was successful in the team time trial of the Tour of Catalonia and the First Union Invitational . The next year Clinger went back to the US to join the Prime Alliance Cycling Team . He won a stage in the Tour de Georgia , a stage and the overall classification in the Tour of Connecticut, and two parts in the Cascade Cycling Classic . He also finished third in the US championship road race. In 2004 he moved to the Italian team Domina Vacanze , in 2005 to Webcor Builders and in 2007 he drove for Rock Racing . In the 2008 season, David Clinger won the Bonsall-San Luis Rey Classic .

At the 2009 Elite National Championship, Clinger tested positive for testosterone and modafinil use. The American association then banned him for two years until September 2, 2011. After a second positive doping test, he was banned for life in August 2011.
