David Cohen (politician)

David Cohen (born November 13, 1914 - October 3, 2005 in Philadelphia ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . Until his death he was one of the oldest active politicians in the United States.

The lawyer Cohen began his political career in 1935 as an election worker. Since then he has held numerous political offices. Most recently he was a member of the Philadelphia City Council.

As he got older, Cohen was repeatedly compared to Strom Thurmond of South Carolina , who left the US Senate at the age of 100 . However, Cohen looked better compared with Representative Claude Pepper of Florida , until his death at the age of 88 years in Congress sat.
