David Gates
David Gates (born December 11, 1940 in Tulsa , Oklahoma ) is an American singer-songwriter and was the singer of the rock group Bread .
Live and act
He composed the ballad If and the rock song Guitar Man . Before the formation of the band Bread , he was a composer and studio musician. In 1978 Gates composed and sang the theme song for the film The Goodbye Girl .
He wrote the song Everything I Own for his late father . The song was u. a. Covered by Boy George in 1987.
