David Gericke (born March 17, 1965 in Mendoza , Argentina ) is an Argentinian-German painter, sculptor and multimedia artist.

David Gericke has lived and worked in Cologne for more than 23 years. His works show Latin American and indigenous elements, but are also influenced by Europe.

Life

Gericke was born in 1965 as the eldest son of an artist couple. He received his first artistic lessons in his father's sculpture workshop. He attended the art school (Escuela de Artes Visuales) in Paraná, Entre Ríos, in Mendoza the school of visual arts, Fernando Fader from 1978 to 1982 and then until 1986 the college of Bellas Artes . In 1986 he completed his training with a diploma as a specialist teacher for plastic arts. Bronze, iron, wood, clay, as well as marble and alabaster were among his preferred materials. In addition to studying at the art school, he always practically worked in the studios of artist friends.

While still a student, he took part in national and international competitions, including in Brazil and Canada. In 1990 exhibitions in Sydney / Australia followed in collaboration with the Billy Blue Group gallery and various exhibitions in Buenos Aires.

An art prize, which he was awarded for his sculptural compositions at one of the most important annual exhibitions, enabled him to stay in Europe. His first trip took him to Turin / Italy, where he taught other artists the various techniques of micro-foundry. 1994–96 followed work in the field of furniture design in stone and iron.

He has lived and worked in Cologne since 1996.
