David Helldén (born January 17, 1905 , † 1990 ) was a Swedish architect who was mainly known for participating in the redesign of Stockholm City.

David Helldén passed his architecture exam at the Royal Technical University in Stockholm in 1927 and then continued his education at the Royal Art School from 1929 to 1930 . From 1927 to 1935 he was employed by the renowned architect Erik Lallerstedt and then established his own architecture office. From 1933 to 1944 he worked with Lallertstedt and Sigurd Lewerentz to plan the new Malmö Music Theater (now Malmö Opera och Musikteater ).

In 1946 he was hired by the Stockholm City Planning Department to help plan the redesign of Stockholm City ( Norrmalmsregelingen ). The new city plan, which was decided in 1953, saw u. a. five high-rise buildings to be located north of Sergels Torg . They started with high-rise No. 1, which is right next to the concert hall . This building was designed by David Helldén and was finished in 1960, the market hall Hötorgshallen and the Sergeltheater (1955-60) as well as the Sergels Torg also came from him .
