David Leon

David Jeremy Leon (born July 24, 1980 in Newcastle upon Tyne ) is a British actor and director .

Life

David Leon is the son of secretary Ann J. Brown and worker Anthony N. Leon. Because of his father's Jewish beliefs, he describes himself as half-Jewish. In his youth he played briefly with the Blackburn Rovers . Leon went to Dame Allan's School in Fenham, a district to the west of Newcastle upon Tyne, and began training at the National Youth Theater .

Career

In 2004 David Leon dropped out of drama school to star in Oliver Stone's film Alexander . He gained greater fame as an actor primarily from the British crime series Vera - A Very Special Case . From 2011 to 2014 he starred with Brenda Blethyn in the first 16 episodes of the series. He was the director of Black Ice , the 30th episode in the series.

Orthodox , Leon's third short film as a writer and director, has been featured in several international festivals, including the 58th BFI London Film Festival .
