David Lawrence Lipsey, Baron Lipsey (born April 21, 1948 ) is a British Labor politician.

Life

David Lipsey was promoted to Life Peer in 1999 as Baron Lipsey , of Tooting Bec in the London Borough of Wandsworth . He sits for Labor in the House of Lords . He was political adviser to Anthony Crosland during the opposition and later adviser to 10 Downing Street. He has worked as a journalist for many press outlets including the Sunday Times , Sunday Correspondent , The Times , The Guardian and The Economist . From 1982 to 1983 he was chairman of the Fabian Society and from 1970 to 1972 secretary of the Streatham Labor Party.

In 1997 he was awarded the Orwell Prize for his work as Bagehot in the Economist. In 2004 he was elected chairman of the British Harness Racing Club.
