David Morneau

David Morneau (born May 2, 1975 ) is an American composer.

Morneau studied at Ohio State University with Marc Ainger , Donald Harris and Jan Radzynski . He was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate Student in Composition and received the Ruth Friscoe Prize for Composition for The Rhythm Variations , twelve variations based on George Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm". He continued his education at Western Michigan University with Richard Adams , C. Curtis-Smith and Robert Ricci and at Cornerstone University in Richard Stewart , where he the degree of Bachelor of Music Composition gained and the Fine Arts Division Award was awarded . He teaches at Ohio State University .

Morneau has been involved in Robert Voisey's project 60x60 since 2006 . Between 2007 and 2008 he created 60x365 , a collection of 365 one-minute works composed every day, which he put on the Internet as a podcast. In his Love Songs Project , a collaboration with eleven poets, Shakespeare's sonnets are combined with contemporary poetry and set to music. A dance performance with the choreographer Amiti Perry resulted in Morneau's solo album a / break machinations , which was released in 2008 by Immigrant Breast Nest Records .

With the choreographer Esther Palmer and the performance artist Shana Burns he founded Seen Performance .
