David Pollock, 3rd Viscount Hanworth

David Stephen Geoffrey Pollock, 3rd Viscount Hanworth (born February 16, 1946 ) is a British peer , university professor and politician ( Labor Party ). He usually uses his middle first name Stephen .

life and career

Pollock was born on February 16, 1946 to David Bertram Pollock, 2nd Viscount Hanworth (1916–1996) and Isolda Rosamund Parker (* 1918). He attended Wellington College and Guildford Technology College. He graduated from the University of Sussex ; he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts . He holds a Master of Science ( MSc ) degree from the University of Southampton . He received his doctorate ( DEcon ) from the University of Amsterdam ; he received his doctorate in economics .

Pollock was an Associate Professor ( Reader ) in Economics at London University . Hanworth is currently (July 2011) Professor of Econometrics and Computational Statistics at the University of Leicester , teaching mathematical statistics , econometrics and environmental science.

He is a lecturer in the Department of Economics at Queen Mary, University of London . He is also auditor and appraiser ( External Examiner ) at the Cass Business School of City University London .

Membership in the House of Lords

Through the death of his father in 1996 he inherited his title and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . He first attended a meeting on November 19, 1996. He gave his inaugural address on January 15, 1997. He regularly attended meetings and spoke on the subjects of industrial policy , foreign policy and development aid , taxation, energy policy, transport and housing.

Through the House of Lords Act 1999 , he lost his seat after he had previously failed to run in the election for the two remaining Labor members. He was last present at a meeting on November 11, 1999, the last possible date. In the by-election, which was triggered in 2003 by the death of Michael Milner, 2nd Baron Milner of Leeds , he was defeated by Christopher Suenson-Taylor, 3rd Baron Grantchester .

On March 23, 2011, he was elected as one of 92 Hereditary Peers who continue to sit in the House of Lords ; this time he won the by-election after the death of David Kenworthy, 11th Baron Strabolgi .

Pollock represents the Labor Party there . He spoke up for the first time in his second term on May 10, 2011. He was elected Deputy Speaker in 2011.

family

Pollock married Elizabeth Liberty Vambe, daughter of Lawrence Vambe, on October 19, 1968. You are the parents of two daughters. He lives with his wife in London (as of 2003).
