David Resnick (composer)

David Resnick (* 1953 in Iowa ) is an American composer and music teacher.

Resnick studied music education at St. Ambrose College and Northern Illinois University , took saxophone lessons from Eugene Rousseau and attended workshops with conductor Thomas Lee at UCLA . He has lived in Dubuque since 1984 and has been the head of the instrumental music department at Clarke University there since 1994 . He leads the brass and woodwind ensembles as well as the jazz band of the university and has worked as a guest conductor in various ensembles in Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska. He plays the saxophone, clarinet and piano in various professional bands in Dubuque and also teaches electroacoustic music, orchestration and instrumental technology. As a composer he emerged with works for band, for choir, saxophone quartet and string orchestra. Among other things, he also composed the official anthem of the city of Davenport A Bit of Heaven in Davenport .
