David Rovics (born April 10, 1967 in New York City ) is an American singer-songwriter and political activist. His music includes topics such as the 2003 Iraq war , globalization / globalization criticism and social justice , but also about historical social movements such as those of the 1930s and 1960s.

Life

Rovics grew up in Wilton, Connecticut . His parents were both musicians, so he made music himself from an early age.

Although most of his works are registered and distributed commercially, they are also available free of charge as MP3 files on his website. He promotes the free distribution of his work. He offers his music via iTunes , among other things , but feels that the price of 99 cents per song is "too high". Rovics also suggested using his songs on protest marches and demonstrations, for which he edited sheet music and lyrics online.
