David Walter

David Walter (* 1958 in Paris ) is a French oboist , conductor and professor .

Life

After receiving first prize in oboe and chamber music at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris , he quickly gained recognition outside of France and received five international prizes in Ancona, Prague, Munich, Belgrade and Geneva.

Walter decided against a solo career and concentrated on teaching and chamber music. His chamber music activities primarily include playing with the Quintet Moragues, of which he is a founding member (1980). The ensemble won the Grand Prize of the Nouvelle Académie du Disque and was nominated for the first Victoires de la Musique classique.

Further chamber music partners are S. Richter, C. Zacharias, M. Dalberto, P. Rogé, A. Planès, G. Nikolic, MA Nicolas, C., M. Le Guay, Yuki Kakajima and the Sine Nomine, Endellion, Manfred and the Parisi string quartet.

David Walter became the youngest oboe and chamber music professor at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 29. Since 1997 he has taught at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and regularly gives master's courses. In order to expand his repertoire, David Walter created more than 250 known arrangements, many of which are known today. He promotes new works by young composers such as Gilles Raynal or Thierry Escaiche and is himself a composer.

Walter also directs small orchestras and ensembles: la Camerata de Bourgogne, l'Ensemble Philidor, l'Ensemble Instrumental de Grenoble, St. George Stings, l'Orchestre de Bretagne, l'Orchestre d'Auvergne. He is also the art director of two collections together with the music producer Billaudot and cooperates with the publishing houses Leduc and Le Chant du Monde .
