Davide Anzaghi

Davide Anzaghi (born November 29, 1936 in Milan ) is an Italian composer and university professor.

Anzaghi studied composition, conducting, choral conducting and piano at the Milan Conservatory . He then took composition courses with Giorgio Federico Ghedini and Franco Donatoni . After teaching at the Istituto Musicale Donizetti in Bergamo and the Brescia Conservatory , he received a professorship at the Milan Conservatory. His students include the conductor Simone Fontanelli and the composer Atli Ingólfsson .

Anzaghi's compositions have won several prizes, for example he won the Olivier Messiaen International Contest in 1974 with his orchestral work Ausa ( Messiaen himself was the jury chairman). For 6 years (until 2003) he was a member of the board of directors of the Milan Conservatory, in 2004 he was elected to the Academic Council of the Conservatory. From 2003 to 2016 Anzaghi was President of the Società Italiana di Musica Contemporanea (SIMC), the Italian section of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM).
