Davut Suları

Davut Suları (* 1925 in Çayırlı , Erzincan Province ; † on January 18, 1985 in Erzurum ) was an Alevi Aşık , who usually appeared under the name Aşık Davut Suları . His real name was Davut Ağbaba .

Live and act

His father Veli Ağbaba passed the upbringing of Davut Sularıs on to his grandmother Rindi Hanim at an early age. His grandfather Kaltik Mehmet Aga was an Alevi poet who awakened Davut Suları's desire for poetry, singing and playing the baglama ( Saz ) as a child . His grandfather also gave him his traditional abbreviation in poems "Suları".

At the age of 17 he became Aşık, an Alevi poet and musician . When he was 22 years old, he left his parents' house on horseback and wandered around as a singer for the rest of his life, riding from one village to the next. In Ankara he worked as a singer on the radio. Many of his works are in Turkish, there are also works in the Zaza language .

His daughter Edibe Sulari was killed in the Sivas arson attack along with 32 other Alevi artists.
