Davy is an impact crater on the front of the moon on the northeastern edge of Mare Nubium , southwest of Ptolemaeus crater and northwest of Alphonsus . The somewhat irregularly shaped crater has concentric structures inside. In the northeast it overlies the secondary crater Davy Y , inside of which there is the Catena Davy crater chain , which runs from the center of the secondary crater in a slight arc in a northeastern direction.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British chemist Humphry Davy .
