Dawn Food Products is an American company that manufactures preliminary and finished products for the bakery industry and the baking trade, as well as food service.
The company's headquarters are in Jackson , Michigan . In 2005 the company had sales of US $ 1.11 billion with 3850 employees worldwide. The product range includes over 4,000 products for the production of baked goods.
Company history
Dawn Foods bakery was founded in Jackson Michigan by two master bakers in the early 20th century. This small bakery quickly became so famous for its donuts that the Dawn Donut Company was founded as early as 1920 to sell the donut mix.
In 1935 Marlin Jones joined the company. Dawn survived the recession and the Second World War unscathed and in 1955 passed into the possession of the Jones family (still owners). Due to the growth and expansion of the product line, DDC (Dawn Donut Company) became Dawn Food Products Inc. in 1977.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Dawn Food expanded towards Europe (Evesham, UK, Steenbergen NL) and the rest of the North American continent and has since been trading as Dawn Foods International, the first US American bakery products manufacturer with production facilities outside the USA.
Due to the high demand for donuts was from the bakery quickly Dawn Foods , the first industrial manufacturer of baking mixes for donuts, muffins , biscuits / cookies and brownies .
In 2011 Dawn Foods acquired Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients from the Royal Cosun Group in Europe. Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients produces, among other things, flavors, toppings, fondants, compounds, creams, stocks, mousses, ice creams, decorative gels, fruit fillings, herbal mixes and baking mixes for the food industry as well as semi-finished products for the bakery sector. Brands include SUCREA, Caullet, Dethmers and Fruibel.
