Location of the constituency in the state of Queensland .

Dawson is one of 150 constituencies used to elect the Australian House of Representatives . It is located in the east of the state of Queensland . The constituency includes the towns of Ayr , Bowen , Mackay , Proserpine and the southeastern boroughs of Townsville .

It was founded in 1949 and named after Anderson Dawson , a Prime Minister of the state of Queensland.

George Christensen of the Liberal National Party has been the incumbent MP for the constituency since 2010 .
