White Water Racing World Championships 2012

The 28th Canoe White Water Racing World Championships took place from June 26th to July 1st, 2012. They were in French La Plagne on the Isère discharged. The most successful nation by far was host France. Germany became the second strongest nation, mainly due to the good results in the classic middle distance and despite obvious deficits in the short distance. The German Stephan Stiefenhöfer won the bronze medal in the C2 sprint team and thus became the first white water racer to win a medal at world championships in each boat category. The most successful athlete of the competitions was the Frenchman Yann Claudepierre with a total of five gold and two silver medals in the single and double Canadians. Guilaume Alzingre (also France) with “only” five gold medals was hardly behind.
